Here’s a well-reasoned prediction: Three days from now “We The Voters” will go to the polls, good citizens that we are, and will vote a few Democrats out of office and a few more Republicans into office. In the process, we will RE-elect 85% to 90%, or more, of the incumbent representatives right back into office, just like we always do.I’m also betting that a few months or maybe a year later we will be outraged to find that nothing has changed. Every Republican is working to stay in office and to get more Republicans into office in the next election, and every Democrat is working to stay in office and to get more Democrats into office in the next election – just as they always have. And, you will find that the Administration is working to grow the power and influence of the federal government and get the President re-elected in the next election.
Here’s a well-reasoned comment: HEY, IT’S YOUR GOVERNMENT. “We The Voters” got ourselves into this mess, and only “We The Voters” can get out of it. In the words of the immortal Pogo, “We have met the enemy, and he is us”.
We have put these politicians in office over and over and they have failed us over and over. There is a word for people who keep doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result. Its “crazy”.
I’m crazy in a number of ways, but that’s not one of them.
When I look at my ballot in the voting booth I will not see Republicans vs. Democrats vs. Independents vs. whatever. I will see only Incumbents vs. Not-Incumbents. The Incumbents have failed miserably for decades, and I will not even consider voting for them. My votes will go to the best of the rest.
You should vote for whomever you like. You have that right . . . at least for now. But I hope you will remind yourself as you enter the booth – HEY, ITS YOUR GOVERNMENT.
